FRESH FACES OF THE PCHS

It with great honor and appreciation that we introduce a few of our new volunteers...

Ali Tobia Allison Tobia
Allison, or "Ali" as she prefers to be called is a native Manhattan girl, although her place of residence moved globally throughout her early years, finally settling in Northern Virginia. Ali has been a animal lover and rescuer since birth it seems and so a future in veterinary medicine is ultimately her perfect fit, career-wise speaking. Our first correspondence with Ali was actually about adopting one of PCHS' very own pups who was up for adoption. Of course we approved her for her new dog-child, Nicci (formerly known as Cookie) and we truly lucked out by somehow keeping her around to volunteer. A recent graduate of William and Mary, Ali is now a "local" in hopes of starting vet school at VT in fall of 2010. In the meantime, her "rescue" roots and experience as a former Vet Tech has landed her the titles of both Spay Clinic volunteer as well as our new Rescue Coordinator. We are truly lucky to have Ali around!

Beth Cox Beth Cox
All you "northerners" will rejoice in knowing that Beth has increased you PCHS yankees in number! A proud Jersey girl born and raised, Beth finally made the move down to Southwest Virginia thirteen years ago. Being quite the nurturer, Beth and her husband, Steve, have their house (and barn) FILLED with the love of 3 dogs, 1 cat, 5 foster kittens, 2 horses, 3 mini-horses, Beth's 88-year-old mother, 2 step-daughters, 2 step-sons and a handsome little one-year-old grandson to complete the mix. When Beth isn't tending to and loving her at-home family or our shelter animals, you can find her with her other family- her church family. Beth is a loyal member at Memorial Christian Church in Draper. Beth has dug her heels in deep already with our organization by helping in our spay clinic and in our fundraising efforts. Beth is such a blessing to PCHS and we can't wait for all of her wonderful ideas to help PCHS pave its future!

Kim Ridpath Kim Ridpath
If the saying, "home is where the heart is" is true, the New River Valley has held Kim's heartstrings all her life. As both a R.N. and accomplished and successful realtor, you would think that Kim has more than enough to keep her time occupied. For those of you who know of that "person" who somehow juggles so many different things and seems to do it with ease and excess energy, Kim is most definitely this type of person- so much so that just watching her work makes US tired. Not only is Kim a current member on Montgomery County Humane Society's board of directors, she is also a volunteer in our spay clinic. In addition, Kim almost always has at least one foster kitten at her house and has generously transported many PCHS animals to the vet and even paid their vet bill! Her R.N. past has also made her yet another asset to our spay clinic "squad". Again, we are so exstatic to have Kim here with us at PCHS and we hope she will enjoy her volunteerism with us as much as we enjoy her presence!
